Please note:

    2019 the club championships coaches had to be Learn to Train "trained". For the 2019 all club championships, coaches must be Learn to Train "certified". This means coaches have to do course; hand in their completed portfolio, and have evaluation done.

Criteria for minor club championships

  • Program must be Community Driven.
  • Program must be advertised and promoted within the community.
  • Program must be open to all participants within that community and attempts made to accommodate all. Clubs may accept individuals outside the community at any time.
  • First year clubs must make application to the Minor Committee if they want to enter provincial championships in their inaugural year. All clubs will be permitted to enter in the 2nd year of existence.
  • Athletes registering with more than one club MUST declare by November 15th which club they will compete with for provincial championships. Athletes will be permitted to play with another club if the one they declare does not register for provincials in that year.

Tournament Registration

Sites / Venues: Minor Clubs Sies and Dates

  • There will be only one provincial championship for each category.
  • Teams will be permitted to register and play a maximum 15 players for these club championships. This number may vary when teams attend national championships.
  • Please note that the U13 and U14 championships are played under FIBA regulations, and it is not mandatory to play 5 on 5 off as per our school championships.

Instructions to Apply to Enter a Tournament

  1. Download the entry form to your computer using the link below.
  2. Complete the entry form and save it on your computer.
  3. Obtain the permission of the club president to submit the entry form.
  4. Submit the entry form to the NLBA Office by filling in the Contact Name, Contact Email, Checking Off "President's Permission", and attaching the saved entry form. To attach the entry form, click on "Browse", and find the completed entry form file that you have saved on your computer.
  5. Press "Submit" to send the form to the NLBA office; you will be transferred to the payment screen to submit the fee.

Instructions to Apply to Host a Provincial Minor Tournament

  1. Download the appliction form: U10, U12, U14 and U16 application.
  2. Complete and submit the application form to the NLBA Office via fax, mail, or scan-&-email.

Hosts are to have one set of pennies on hand in case there is a uniform clash in any game.
